明星賽快到了，代表球季進行了一半，各隊也該決定該當買家或是賣家。在7/31前，不論球隊是想要湊齊今年季後賽的拼圖，或是為了未來幾年鋪路，各隊GM都要好好考量一下。
水手現在的處境很尷尬，大家都認為水手應該要當個賣家，乖乖的重建，但是戰績卻「意外」的有機會爭奪西區王座，加上重要的交易籌碼：Erik Bedard、Adrian Beltre、Yuniesky Betancourt、Endy Chavez，又紛紛受傷，讓Zduriencik少了許多運作的空間。不過Jarrod Washburn今年表現突出，還是有機會賣個好價位。
在這之前，水手也先做出了一筆交易，用Mike Morse和國民換來了外野手Ryan Langerhans，目的就是要補上Endy Chavez的位置。
目前水手傳出可能被交易，或是和水手相關的球員如下：
Why he's available: He's a left-handed power hitter who attracted interest on the trade market last winter.
Will he go? Possible, but only if he can net the Tigers a more proven offensive boost.
Where might he go? The Mariners and Pirates were among teams believed to have interest in him last offseason, but neither have what Detroit needs. Colorado could be more likely if the Rockies decide to deal supporting bats.
SS Yuniesky Betancourt, Mariners
Why he's available: The organization has just about reached the limit with the lack of focus from the talented but underachieving 27-year-old. He looks like a Gold Glove winner one play and a clueless rookie on the next play.
Will he go? A lot depends on how quickly he heals from a hamstring injury. His contract status would make it easier to move him, but his mental lapses on offense and defense could scare teams away.
Where might he go? Best bet would be to send him to a building team, not a contending team.
Why he's available: If the Mariners fall out of the playoff picture it would hasten the organization's decision to part ways with the left-hander whose durability has been shaky at best during his brief career in Seattle. He's also eligible for free agency at the end of the season.
Will he go? Not if the Mariners are in the playoff hunt as the Trade Deadline nears. A healthy Bedard is something the team needs to compete for a postseason spot and the new regime would be hard-pressed to get rid of a quality arm if it hurts their playoff chances.
Where might he go? The Phillies certainly could use another starter and being on the East Coast would seem to improve their chances of keeping the lefty beyond this season. Another possibility is the Blue Jays, believed to be the team Bedard, a native of Canada, would most like to sign with in free agency.
Why he's available: There is starting pitching depth in the organization to begin with and Washburn enters the final months of a four-year contract. He is pitching better this season than any of his other three with Seattle, but has received the lowest run support of anyone. He would fit in well with a team that has a quality offense.
Will he go? He almost went to the Twins at the Trade Deadline last year, but the club president nixed the agreed-in-principle swap. That wouldn't happen with new GM Jack Zduriencik calling the shots. Washburn could end up with a pennant contender for a promising young hitter.
Where might he go? The Brewers sure could use a veteran starting pitcher and they have some quality hitters that might be available. There could be a match there and the Z-man is extremely familiar with the Milwaukee organization.
7/1 Trade Rumor Of The Day* @USSM
The Mariners, running a close third in the American League West, will probably wait about two weeks before moving definitively on the trade market.
Already, though, they have engaged in preliminary discussions with the Padres about third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff, according to one source with knowledge of the talks.
The person added that the chances for a deal — at this point, at least — are not strong. But San Diego officials have made clear to other clubs that Kouzmanoff is available.
7/10 Mariners deal Betancourt to Royals
正在3A進行復健賽的Yuniesky Betancourt被送去皇家，這位在攻守兩端不斷傷害水手的古巴人，或許可以在皇家找到一片天。
換來的兩位球員是Daniel Cortes和Derrick Saito。
22歲的右投Cortes主要的問題在好球帶邊緣的掌握，今年改善了容易挨轟的缺點，但也造成三振次數下滑和保送增加，變速球不拿手也讓他不擅長面對左打者。
21歲的Saito是左手牛，有先發的潛力但受限於體力問題，三振能力很不錯，但要再減少保送次數。
這兩位年輕投手都各有需要改善的地方，不過也都還年輕，還有機會繼續加強。
雖然Betancourt也許有很多潛力，但在水手這幾年，他的確沒有把潛力化成實力，用他換來兩個有發展性的年輕投手，算是很合理的選擇。
7/11 Mariners acquire Hannahan from A's
從運動家換來Jack Hannahan，要補上Adrian Beltre的位置。守備型的球員，打擊方面並不令人期待，不過正如運動家農產品的特性，打擊很有耐心，平均每個打席要耗掉投手4.1球。
送出的選手是2A的右投Justin Souza，06年選秀第9輪選來的。
強化了三壘的防守，打線增加一名左打，也增加了一名有耐心的打者。下一步就是解決游擊的問題了。
